Hi! I’m Nicole and I help people with low energy, joint pain, brain fog, digestive issues, and weight problems (too heavy or too thin) become healthy, happy, energetic people by teaching them how to heal the whole body from the inside out.
There are over 100 different autoimmune diseases and more, like diabetes and parkinson’s disease, being added to the list every year.
So many people are losing their health and vitality to a confused and over-worked immune system and they may not even realize it’s the cause of their symptoms!
I focus on autoimmune diseases because they tried to take me down and it’s my mission to prevent them from taking you down.
The Long Story:
I’m a total convert. I didn’t used to put much thought into the quality (or quantity) of food I put in my mouth.
I grew up with antibiotics as the doctor’s go-to treatment and the standard American diet. My favorites were pancakes, peanut butter & crackers, mac-n-cheese, and milk.
Ugh, makes me hurt just thinking about it! Looking back, I have more energy now than I did as a kid!
I didn’t realize how this SAD food was wrecking my health – from the inside out – until eight years ago I felt like I was GOING. TO. DIE. I insisted on getting to the root of the problem. Something was going on in my body, and I had to find out what it was.
I went to doctor after doctor, and had test after test. Each doctor was puzzled. Each test revealed only a little piece of the puzzle.

My OBGYN patted me on the shoulder and said “Being a new mom is stressful. Try to chill out.” That was helpful.
My primary doctor was sweet, but was only good for referrals to specialists – and there have been many!
The Cardiologist gave me the full workup – treadmill stress test, heart monitor, blood work – and gave me a clean bill of health. That was great news – all my hardware was working fine. But why did I so often feel like I was having a heart attack?
The Neurologist, after nerve tests and MRIs, couldn’t find any cause for the tiggling and numbness plaguing my left arm and leg. He offered to provide a note to my employer so I could take disability leave from work. What?! I didn’t want an excuse – I wanted a path to wellness so I could thrive!
The Gastroenterologist did his workup – I swallowed barium, got x-rays, CAT scans, breath tests, endoscopy, colonoscopy, rectum fit test (giggle), and more blood work. I think I did every test in his repituar! Diagnosis: Celiac Disease and IBS (translated as “we don’t know the cause of your bloating, heartburn, reflux, gas, and constipation.)
The Allergist ran a complete skin and blood panel for foods and environmental allergens and intolerances. Diagnosis: wheat, oats, carrots, and trout showed up as allergies and an additional 15 foods showed up as food intolerances. What! WHY?
The Endocrinologist did her workup – bloodwork and thyroid ultrasound – and found a few more pieces of the puzzle. Diagnoses: Hashimotos Thyroiditis, Insulin Resistance,
The Gynecologist did more bloodwork (my arm is like a pincushin by this point) and ovarian ultrasound. Diagnosis: PCOS and Amenorrhea (translated as “we don’t the cause of your lumpy ovaries and why you have the estrogen of a five year old”).
I walked away from each specialist with a name for the problems, but with no answers to my burning questions.
WHY were these parts of my body failing?
WHAT was the cause?
I didn’t want to treat each individual diagnosis with a drug – I wanted to find the ROOT CAUSE and fix it.
Then, I found a functional doctor (who started as a conventional physician so he gets both sides.) A thorough consultation, a simple saliva test, and a few more vials of blood later, and I had enough answers to put all the pieces together. All my hormones were a MESS and my adrenal glands were shot. No wonder I felt like I literally had to drag myself around!
Root Cause: All my diagnosis are autoimmune-related.
The Reason: The foods I grew up on, and the antibiotics that I took throughout the years had worked against me, throwing off the natural balance of bacteria in my gut. This caused the lining of my intestines to let things into my bloodstream that shouldn’t be there and my body attacked.
My immune system went into OVERDRIVE.
The Fix: Heal my gut, replace the missing nutrition, and support my body’s natural ability to heal.
